You might remember that Uruguay has been collecting signatures on a petition regarding its amnesty law (known as the Ley de Caducidad) for some time now. Those who wish to annul the law have now, according to the Electoral Court, officially succeeded in collecting over 250,000 signatures, representing 10% of the electorate. That's the magic number which means that the result will now be put forward to the vote: Uruguayans will be able to decide on the annulment in October. The annulment campaign needs 51% of the votes to win.
